WSU Block Party

Audrey, Jayne and I spent the morning at the WSU Block Party. We had so much fun. The first booth we saw had sidewalk chalk. That was a real hit for Audrey. She loved it!

We made our way to the WSU Online booth where we sat in the shade and ate Otter Pops. I think that was Jayne's favorite part. She's pretty serious about her Otter Pop-eating.

One our way back we ran into our Army recruiter friend, Matt who brought a climbing wall. I tried it, and it was a fun first for me. I have to admit that the only reason I strapped on the harness was because of Audrey. She kept telling me I had to do it, and then she grabbed my leg and walked me over.

We always have to stop for dogs...

All of the excitement really wore out Jayne. She was even willing to sleep sitting up. Sweet girl!

Cell Phone

This morning I was ready to leave for work and I heard little noises coming from Audrey's room. I decided that it would be worth being a few minutes later to work if I could see my little girl and give her a hug and a kiss. So I opened her door to greet her. She was sitting on the floor, using her bed as a backrest. She had an old (battery-less) cell phone up to her ear. She refused to make eye contact with me, and instead focused on her phone conversation. She stared at the floor and repeated "uh huh....uh huh".

Finally I decided I couldn't wait any longer. I got down on the floor on my hands and knees and said, "Audrey, I'm sorry to interrupt your conversation. But I'm leaving for work and I'd like a hug and kiss from you."

Audrey slowly got up from the floor, never removing the phone from her ear and still never making eye contact. She put one arm around me and allowed me to give her a hug. Then she sat down and resumed focus on her phone call.

I laughed this morning, but wonder what the teen years will be like with this little girl.

Shopping

Today I took advantage of some time while Audrey was playing on her own to do a little work of my own. I was sitting at the computer when Audrey danced over to me carrying a sequined purse on her arm and wearing a necklace around her neck. She kept saying, "shopping, shopping, shopping" and smiling at me. I talked to her about her pretend shopping trip and she looked very happy. Then she stretched her hand out to me with her palm facing up, and she said, "money". I never thought this sort of behavior would start so early! She is so funny.

Jayne Elizabeth

Our newest addition has arrived! On November 18th, Jayne Elizabeth Jensen was born. She weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long. She has dark hair, and more of it than we were expecting. She has a quiet, sweet temperament and still sleeps a lot. When she does cry, it sounds like a bird squawking. Audrey loves her and has already starting teaching her to say the alphabet. The lessons are short because Audrey only knows A - B. She just repeats those letters over and over again while Jayne sleeps.

We feel so blessed to have her join our family.

Final Countdown

I'm on the final countdown to my delivery date. Just three more weeks. And, I just got my hair cut. I think this is the shortest it has ever been. It's so nice to have it short! I don't have much else to say about it, but I promised a couple of friends some pictures here on the blog.

Tonight we went to a ward Halloween party. Audrey was a little moody...not surprising. When we were on our way out, she saw her reflection in the glass door and just had to dance. Jake and I waited by the exit for 10 minutes as she danced to the music in her head and entertained people who were leaving. Here's her costume for this year. She refuses to wear the wings and antenna that make her really look like a bee...funny girl:

Funny Girl

I just backed up a bunch of pictures of Audrey and couldn't help but smile. Pictures of her just remind me of all the funny things she does. She is overflowing with personality. I hope Jake and I can handle her when she's older! Here are a few fun examples of the many faces of Audrey...

Is any childhood complete without a Burger King crown?

...in mom's glasses.

Learning to use the fun bowl with a built-in straw that Aunt Brandi gave her!

Contemplating life after Oreos.

We're still not sure what surprised her.

This is the best we've been able to capture her way of showing she is surprised. She tenses her arms and hands and presses her lips tight against her teeth. She's such a funny girl!
